A recent research evidence supports the use of acupuncture for treating alcoholism. In a systematic review on the magnitude of the treatment effect of acupuncture on alcoholism, the Korean researchers conclude that acupuncture can reduce cravings and relieve withdrawal symptoms during alcohol detoxification treatments. The meta-analysis was published on 12.01.2017 by Korean researchers, based on 7 randomised controlled trials involving 243 patients from United Kingdom, Switzerland, United States and Ireland.
